No Touchpad Gestures - Win10 Latitude E7470

Hello,

I've got a Latitude E7470 which I used previously with Win7, where the touchpad worked fine.

I clean-installed Win10, and now I can't get the touchpad to work properly - I can use it to point and click (and also click-drag, partially), but none of the gestures work (e.g. scrolling), and the touchpad software doesn't recognize the touchpad as one - see the attached screenshot. The point stick does work.

I tried various driver versions, including the latest (10.2207.101.108-A00), and some other versions which I've read are supposed to work (e.g., 10.1207.101.103-A00), however neither seem to make it work.

I'd appreciate any help with this.

Thanks in advance!

Try restarting! I had this as well with my dell latitude e5450 and the touchpad gestures stopped working (i was making a roblox game with roblox studio) and when i tried to scroll with 2 fingers in anything with scrollbars it would not do it so i restarted and it works

Before you install/update any drivers please press CTRL+ALT+F5 or CTRL+ALT+F6.
For me this worked.

After a bios update in January and the 20H2 Windowsupdate my touchpad worked only as a Standard PS/2 device.
The I2C HID-Device in the device manager was shown as not correctly installed.

Reinstalling the I2C HID-Device and the standard PS/2 device did not help.

Possible error source: While the updates i used an external mouse / mousepad was maybe deactiviated.
After windows update reboot the touchpad is installed as a standard mouse device.

I hope it works also for you guys.

Best regards,

I had the same issue on my e7470.

Installation of the recent Touchpad driver changed nothing.

So I just opened the Touchbar tool (the Gestures were turned ON).

Turned the Gestures OFF >> Reboot laptop >> turned Gestures ON

This helped me.

Latitude E7470 after clean-installing Windows 10. I understand how frustrating it can be when certain features, such as touchpad gestures, don't work as expected.

To address this issue, I recommend trying the following steps:

  1. First, ensure that you have installed the correct touchpad driver for your device. Visit the Dell support website and download the latest touchpad driver specifically designed for Windows 10 for your Latitude E7470 model.

  2. Once the driver is downloaded, uninstall the current touchpad driver from your device. To do this, go to the "Device Manager" by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager." Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" category, right-click on your touchpad device, and choose "Uninstall device." Make sure to check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" if it's available.

  3. After uninstalling the touchpad driver, restart your computer.

  4. Upon restarting, Windows should automatically detect your touchpad as a new device and install the generic touchpad driver. Check if the touchpad is working correctly with the basic functionality.

  5. If the touchpad is functioning but the gestures are still not working, try installing the previously downloaded touchpad driver specifically designed for Windows 10. Right-click on the driver file and select "Run as administrator" to ensure proper installation.

  6. After the installation is complete, restart your computer once again.

If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you can also try updating the BIOS on your Latitude E7470. Visit the Dell support website, enter your service tag or select your model, and download the latest BIOS update. Follow the provided instructions to update the BIOS, as this may address compatibility issues between the touchpad and Windows 10.

I hope it works.
