Touchpad pinch zoom behavior
Latitude 5580
I recently purchased a 'renewed' Dell Latitude 5580 from Amazon. Everything works great, except for some unusual behavior when I try to zoom on a webpage (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) using pinch/zoom.
The expected behavior (as it does on my Latitude 5500 and my HP) is to zoom in, or magnify, the web page. But on this laptop, when I pinch/zoom, it just increases/decreases the zoom level in 10% increments, as if I'm pressing CTRL and +/-.
I've tried removing, reinstalling the latest touchpad and display drivers. All other drivers a up to date.
Is this behavior configurable, of is it a limitation/function of the hardware?
Thanks for any help,
Mike

I hardly think there is such setting in Dell or non Dell product. Most modern Laptops use Windows precision drivers and Manufactures no longer control the Touchpad.
This is an old model and still uses dell drivers released 2 or more years ago,. If look at product support page there are in total 3 touchpad drivers/app listed, I would suggest try all of them and see any one has such an option, also try increasing sensitivity as well.

Thanks for the reply.
Touchpad is "AlpsAlpine". The only setting I can find is in the Dell Touchpad applet, where I can enable/disable the zoom gesture.
You think this is an unchangeable functionality of this particular touchpad?

Different touchpad drivers/apps have different behaviour and options. What I can do on my Synaptics touchpad may be different from what you can do on yours (you didn't say what touchpad or app it uses.)
I suggest that you open the settings to see what can be modified. Often that can be accessed via a touchpad icon in the system tray area of the Taskbar.

This Dell article refers only to enabling or disabling Pinch Zoom on your Latitude: How to Enable or Disable Pinch Zoom on a Alps Multi-Touch Touchpad in Windows 10 | Dell US
Are there any relevant settings if you click on "Multi Finger Gestures"?
What if you toggle Gestures off? See if then you can use the zoom gesture you describe, which is part of Windows 10 and 11 rather than supplied by a particular touchpad maker.

Multi Finger Gestures only provide for 3 and 4 finger gestures.
Turning off Gestures results in the touchpad still being operational, but all gestures are disabled.
