Dell XPS 13 suspend issue

I bought the new Dell XPS 13 two weeks ago. I bought the windows edition and then loaded it with Ubuntu 16.04. I think its called the 9360..

Suspend issue has never worked. When coming out of suspend, the screen remains black and the keyboard lights show on. The only fix I have is to turn off the computer and then turn on again. This is frustrating.

Anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks,

Sometimes I have the same issue when external display is connected via docking station. Do you see the same without external display?

I'm experiencing the same.

Computer: XPS 13 9360

BIOS: 1.0.7

Ubuntu: 16.04

Kernel: 4.4 and also tried 4.8

I have my disk encrypted which might be related. Will try without…

Hi Njam, thanks for your reply. I had enabled encryption (I think this was just for my home directory in Ubuntu). The steps look a little risky (possibility of losing my home dir) so I will leave this for another day when I have more time.

For now Im going to live with not being able to suspend. Would be nice if we could encrypt and suspend but nevermind..

Thanks,

The new firmware came out yesterday as an automatic download through the Ubuntu software centre. It now suspends without crashing! Hopefully this did the trick.
