Inspiron 5999 Manual kernel configuration

Hello. I want to configure kernel manually for my Gentoo. I think it will add more battery life, previously I used genkernel for it. Does anybody know what options I must enable for Dell Inspiron 5999 ?

There is ZERO Gentoo support here. AFAIKT there is No driver for Goodix GF3208 fingerprint scanner on ANY version of Linux.

Installing Gentoo on a UEFI-capable system is now covered by the Gentoo Handbook. Please follow the relevant steps in the Handbook when running on a UEFI-enabled boot medium such as the LiveDVD.

Ubuntu works with the Generic Settings.

There is support for Redhat and Ubuntu but its not FREE.

Step 1 : Prepping the BIOS
1. Press F12 at the boot screen to get into the boot menu and select BIOS Setup from the list
2. Click on Restore Settings to set the Default Settings in the BIOS
3. Disable VT for Direct I/O under Virtualization Support in the BIOS menu
4. Make sure SATA Operation under System Configuration is set to AHCI
5. Click on Apply and save the settings

This system was tested with 14.04 LTS, running the 3.19.0-27-generic kernel.

Since this is 2018 18.04.2 LTS is the minimum I would recommend.

There are no special kernel notes for this machine.
