Linux on a dell dimension l933r
ok so iv got this desk top from a friend just the other day. and now I have a new hard drive and I want to put Linux on the desktop and also iv been having this problem with receiving a error
A: Drive Error
Press to Resume
now when I try to press delete the computer doesn't respond unless I restart it I really would like some help...

I had the same problem. I finally solved it by reinserting the windows cd and clicking on repair and not re-installing windows. Go into the settings where the c prompt is from the advanced settings. Reformat the disk with the ntfs settings but don't reinstall windows and after the disk formats correctly you can then install linux. Good luck. It takes a while to format the disk.I also held the reset button for about 10 seconds when you put the disk in but don't know if that made a difference. I had wiped the disk clean originally with fat32 file system--big mistake!
