Precision 7510 Dual Monitors through Port Replicator

I've got a Precision 7510 that I'm in process of returning....

I *THINK* this unit was actually defective, but am unsatisfied with support and want to return it before my 30 days is up. I've had problems with random black screens and terrible hex errors in my syslog even without trying to patch the system with the kernel/drivers that "high complexity resolution" says are necessary to make this work.

Can anyone verify that they've got a 7510 running 14.04, nVidia card, and port replicator, that will successfully run dual displays? What did you do? Is it the stock Dell OS, or a generic 14.04 x64 distro?
