Precision 7510 - Two NVme SSD - BIOS not seeing second drive

Recently (1/2017), I ordered a Precision 7510  with two SSD drive.  When I received the machine, the BIOS did not recognize the second SSD.  Dell support thought it was a motherboard problem and sent me a replacement.  However, the replacement had the same problem.  So Dell had me send the machine back to have Engineering look at the problem.

I do not understand why other users did not have or report this problem.  I have a project and still need a machine with two SSDs and Precision 7510 configuration.

-  How can I find out what the problem was and if it is now fixed?

-- I have looked at the Alienware 13R, Precision 3520, and Latitude but I am now worried about getting another machine with problems.

-- I heard Alienware had heat problems but a great OLED screen.  Is that true?

-- The Precision 3520 does not have a second SSD.  Can one be added?

-- I was wondering if the Precision 7510 would have worked with two "spinning" drive.  What does the forum think?  What is your experience with the Precision 7510 - 2 SSDs

Thank you for your help.

Same issue here.  Just received a Precision 7510 which is supposed to have a 1 TB drive and a 256GB M.2 PCIe Solid State Drive.  Only the 1TB drive shows up in Windows.  Haven't checked BIOS yet.

Did your BIOS (F2 - System Setup -> System Information) list the second drive?  Did (F2 - System Setup -> System Configuration -> Drives) have both drives enabled.  On my system only listed one drive SSD-0 was listed and enabled.

I would still like to know why you and I have been the only ones to see this problem.  I would also like to hear from Dell's Engineering about why two machines had the same issue and the cause of this issue.

Dell sent me the first machine with the problem and two weeks later sent me another replacement machine with the same problem.

As I mentioned to Dell, this issue should be independent of the OS on the machine since the BIOS firmware is run before any OS is loaded.

Keep me informed if you find an answers and I appreciate the time you spent to share your issue.

It looks like my issue may have been different.  The drive was showing up in the BIOS but not in Windows and it also wasn't listed during the Windows installation.  What I had to do was download a driver from Dell's website and load it at install time in order to make the drive show up.

To be specific, the driver was called "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console".  You can just install it to make the drive show up in Windows.  To make the drive show up at installation time, extract it with 7zip and place it on a usb drive.

I know it is a very old post but  recently I have the same issue when trying to add a second M.2 PCI drive.
BIOS do not detect the second M.2 PCI drive
