Switching to 32 bit Linux
Hi All,
I am interested in purchasing a Dell precision T3400 525W series n. This system comes with RedHat Enterprise 5.1 64-bit. I was wondering... if I wanted to re-install a 32-bit version of RedHat (well, likely CentOS), will I have any hardware compatibility problems? What I mean is, are there any special drivers included with the Dell Linux installation that are not part of the default RedHat OS? (eg. will the SATA controller or the Broadcom NIC require special drivers that dont come with stock RedHat) or will replacing the 64-bit RedHat with 32 bit RedHat be (relatively) smooth. Alternatively, does anyone here know if I can request from Dell a 32 bit version to be installed instead of the 64 bit version?
Thank you

Any drivers that Dell implements for RedHat must be given to the RedHat corporate development team so they can update your system properly,
So RedHat has all your drivers for yore system,
However I don't know if CentOS has your hardware listed in the drivers list so you should check that out first.
I know that Fedora has the ability to install drivers from RedHat systems so that would be a free option.
Why Fedora 8 because its like having a crack at the newest stable version of RedHat before they release it to stores or for sale online.
