XPS 13 (2015 Dev Ed) glitchy trackpad issue
Just received the new XPS 13 Dev Ed today. The trackpad is very glitchy and I'm getting a lot of this kind of thing in /var/log/syslog. What gives? Any known solution?

I got my machine last Tuesday, and I've been having the same trackpad issue and log files. I'll call when I've got the chance in the next couple of days.

Update: the grub fix did work for the machine, and made the trackpad much smoother.
Last night, I went ahead and erased what was there and installed Ubuntu 15.04 from the live CD, and everything works well. For the life of me, I couldn't get EFI boot working, but it works fine in Legacy. I don't know if that's a problem with the hardware or Ubuntu, but I'll let that slide for now. Everything else works just awesome! Trackpad and screen are lovely!

Hey Lance, Here is a walk through for getting your system to boot in UEFI.

Hi, i have the same behavior and the messages in the syslog too. It looks like the boot parameter helped for me. Should i inform the support as well so you could collect the data?

Unlike some of the other posters I've had no luck editing the GRUB config and adding the mentioned parameter. The touchpad is still glitchy and I still see the same messages with dmesg.

I can also reproduce this. I ordered the laptop a week or so ago and received it today. I'd be happy to email or PM the service tag to someone to allow them to look into the matter further.. In addition to the glitching I also get kicked out of my desktop session and forced to logg baack in again. Looking at the dmesg output suggests that the issue was caused by the touchpad having problems.

(The repeated keys in this post appear to also be a problem with the unit)

Also having this issue (and related log file output).
I added the kernel param as well which seemed to reduce the duration of the reset, but the cursor will still jump to unexpected places when it occurs which can occasionally cause a misclick.

I tried some other distributions and same problem.. (mint, fedora)
But, with ubuntu 15.04 the problem disappeared. The poniter works exellent!
But you need a driver for the wifi card. And the driver need the dkms package.

I'm have the same issues as the OP, but unfortunately I have to say that setting "psmouse.resetafter=0" doesn't fix the issue for me.

Install 15.04 it has drivers for WiFi and cpu microcode (so speedstep works properly) and as previously stated the trackpad works awesome. Just go to the proprietary tab in software&updates to get the bcm.and intel drivers.
The bios also apparently autodetected the efi install so I didn't have to follow the efi instructions posted above.

the jumpyness was on 14.04 with the 3.13 kernel with resetafter=0
15.04 with the newer kernel you dont need the param and its incredibly fluid.

Thank you Mario.
Does single finger right mouse button click (clicking on the right bottom corner of the trackpad) work with this fix? I've gotten some files from Pro Support that do fix the jumpiness but also completely change the way the trackpad behaves (no RMB with one finger, and any time two fingers are on the trackpad, it assumes it's a RMB click).
Thanks again!

For anyone on 14.04 encountering this, please see this knowledge base article.
http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN297219/en
As you mentioned, It won't happen on Ubuntu 15.04. It's been isolated specifically to Ubuntu 14.04.
