Alienware m15x AlienSense not working
I have been using my Alienware m15x laptop fine for about a year (It was second hand when I got it), but it suddenly asked me one day to re-enrol in the facial recognition program. I had to click okay on it...and it then went to my startup screen. The video footage never loads up though. In the week since this has happened, everytime I log in now, I have to use my password, as the aliensense never loads up, only says to wait a minute as it is loading...but it doesnt, no matter how long I let it wait.
Any help with this one? I tried disabling the aliensense and then reenabling it, but it still won't load up.
Thanks
Ellen

Hi Ellen.
The requirement to "re-enroll" by itself isn't unusual. Recognition in AlienSense will never be 100%. Any time you log in with your password while your face is visible, additional versions of ho you look will be learned which helps to improve recognition going forward and to account for any changes in appearance or the environment.
Point of clarification....when you say "AlienSense never loads up", do you mean that the AlienSense interface itself fails to load or do you mean that you see the AlienSense controls and interface but that the video fails to load? This is an important distinction.
Assuming the latter, then of course the failure to load video is NOT normal. Question - does your webcam work in other video apps such as Skype? If you get no video anywhere, then I would start looking at a problem with the camera driver or even with the camera itself. If you do get video in other apps, however, then check to be sure that none of them are running when AlienSense needs to recognize your face. In all versions of Windows, only one app at a time can use a given camera. If something else is using the camera when AlienSense needs it, then AlienSense is out of luck. This scenario should be almost impossible following a reboot, however, as AlienSense will typically load first.

Sverp suggestions are great, you can also try to uninstall and reinstall the command center, make sure you follow the steps in the article below to do it properly:
How to uninstall and reinstall the Alienware Command Center?
Here's the link for the Download:
Alienware Command Center
Do not use the command center in the recovery disk, it might damage your system.
