aurora r4 psu
my Aurora r4 randomly shut off a few days ago while running normally. When I attempted to turn it back on, it made the standard click, followed immediately by an identical click less than a second after. The computer didn't turn on at this point. After a few attempts, the power supply started making a hissing noise, and I smelled something burning.
I browsed the forums for this issue shortly after, and it looked like the resolution was to order a new power supply. My replacement arrived today, but when I hooked it up, it made the same double click with no power on.
Either the power supply wasn't the only issue, or whatever the issue was is what fried my first power supply. I would rather not spend another $100 on a power supply, and I'm hoping the first fail didn't already fry this new one. Please advise.

The Alienware Aurora Power Supplies have a test button in back. Search here or PDF Aurora Service Manual on how it works.
It might not even need to the connect to components inside (can't say I've ever tried it).
You can get a Digital Desktop Computer Power Supply Tester for about $25.
Other than that, you are getting into full-out computer repair.
