Help! - exception unknown error - Dell BIOS upgrade

Used the dell scan tool to find available upgrades, install cause exception errors.

known:

Alienware M17x R3

8gb ddr5 ram

nvidia mtx460m 1.5gb video

intel i7 processor

downloaded the Dell BIOS and Alienware BIOS upgrades as suggested with the Dell support scan

after install, while starting up, the updater was finishing.

Alienwarefusioncontroller.exe - application error;

the exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occured in the application at location 0x5f3577e.

click ok to terminate the program.

any idea if this is going to be a recurring problem at startup? or if it will cause any problems later on?, if so any way to fix it?

girlfriends laptop, she used the scan and update thing from the dell site in hopes it would help with an issue with the mouse randomly not working in usb slots. mouse works fine with other pc's / laptops.

Hi TylerMatt86,

Please restart the system to check if the error message comes up again.

In case you are getting this error message, please uninstall the ‘Alienware Command Center’ from ‘Program and Features' and reinstall the same fromthe link given below:

Please revert to this post for further assistance.

Tried uninstall/reinstall like stated, but the mouse continues to freeze.

also to note, when the mouse freezes, the trackpad does not respond either, regardless of whether or not it is turned on then off again etc..

temporary solution in unplugging the mouse, and moving to a different port, but it is crazy slow, and inevitable stops working again.  task manager takes forever when this is happening also for whatever reason

also to add, the error has yet to come up again, so i guess thats a start..

mouse works fine on the laptops twin (mine)
