Upgrading GPU

Hi guys/gals

I recently upgraded my video editing software to Adobe Premiere and to take full advantage of this i need to upgrade my GPU to a Nvidia Cuda Card

I have installed on my aurora a ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series but im not quite sure which Nvidia card to upgrade to my Budget is 500 euro(about $661)

After readiong on some of the Posts that people are having issues with the GTX Series i just need to know which card is the the best to put into my Machine without Bricking Everything??

Thanks in advance

John

For serious video editing, I'd look at a Quadro card. One of the people I know uses the Quadro 6000 and its BLAZING fast, well over your budget but every serious video editor I know all insist on quadro's rather than anything else.

So see which one is within your budget, like the Quadro 4000 maybe ?

Thanks Cenobitez for the response,

i have looked at the quadro's believe me if i had the budget it would the first card to go in my machine but at the moment the budget is low for Post and higher for on site stuff(lenses external media lighting rigging etc etc) the Radeon i have works very well with Premiere surprisingly enough but i just cant take advantage of the Mercury playback Engine in Premiere and also GPU attributes of Sony Vegas, not sure of what my aurora can Handle with Regard Nvidia Cards, some one i know in the Biz suggested this one www.pixmania.ie/.../geforce-gtx-580-hawk-3-gb.html

not sure will it work in the alienware and not really aware of the issues with the "6 pin" "8 pin" deal any other advice would be greatly appreciated

My M18x (laptop) has Dual SLI GTX 580M's) and seems very fast at rendering with Premier compared do my desktop at least.

You can pick up a Quadro 4000 for around $730,, if you used a Cashback Credit Card (5% ish)  you could get it down to  just under the $700 mark www.amazon.com/.../ref=lh_ni_t

Maybe an option ?

Are you Southern Ireland (eu) or Northern (uk) ?

Does it need to be from Ireland/UK or  EU ?

Oh sign up for QuidCo.com, 6% cashback on Pixmania and with the 5% from a credit card you can save a bit more there.

I'm not familiar with the use of that card for video editing and I'm the only person I know with a 580M who edits, but it does support CUDA.

The brackets are for anyone else wondering why is matters ;)

I'm in the south of Ireland  but all electronics in the EU are covered by a 20% VAT, it's just anything thing that comes from US Canada Asia are hit with a 23% customs tax and sometimes other freight handling charges that can be ridiculous, it's a complete shot in the dark sometimes, especially with computer components :(
