Windows 8 reset not working

I purchased an Alienware X51 R2 with an OEM windows 8 that came pre-installed and after a while, had been meaning to do a complete factory reset. When I went to do it, however, it said that files were missing and my windows 8 recovery media disc that came with my PC should provide me with these missing files. This disc is not recognized by my PC. After creating a recovery drive on more than one external HDD using the 'create a recovery drive' windows 8 application.

Putting my PC into safe mode and attempting to reset my system there, it only said that no recovery media was found. I tried all of the external memory drive i created partitions on and none were recognized.

I then tried AlienRespawn in hope that would be of some help. It told me my recovery media was corrupted and needed to be fixed with the windows 8 recovery media disc. The one that doesn't work. I have found no solutions online, neither have i found any posts even close to my problem, however, I know of somebody whom had the same problem as me and could ,also, not fix it.

My questions are: Is there a known solution to this problem and is it possible to look into this matter further. Thank you in advance

While I do not have time currently to go into too much research with this issue, I was wondering if you have run the system file checker?

If you are missing some files, this may help.

After only a few minutes of research, a TON of information popped up about your issue.

It seems that the ESD files are missing from an upgrade of Win 8 to 8.1. You are not alone in this issue.

As suggested before, you can run a file check and windows may update the information for you, otherwise the best bet is to get an iso of win 8 or 8.1 and extract the necessary information.

Here is some helpful info
