1394 CABLE NOT CONNECTED
Hello
I have an XPS 630 computer and when i switch it on i see the Dell logo screen and then before Window Vista 32bit Ultimate loads i get an error screen saying 1394 CABLE NOT CONNECTED press f1 to continue or f2 to enter setup. If i press f1 the computer will then load Vista and it all works fine from there except the Firewire plugs.
Ive tried re-installing drivers and updating drivers and even re-installing vista and none of that solves the problem. I even tried resetting the little blue jumper on the master input output board under the card fan, i also tried replacing the firewire curcuit board with the microphone and headphone sockets on it along with the firewire socket with an identical board bought from Dell.
Please help as ive had this problem for ages now.

Is anything connected to the firewire port when you boot?

Open the network and sharing window. select manage networks . disable the 1394 connection and it will not show up any more. The reason you see it as the computer boots it is enabled and is look to make a connection.

HI,
I have same problem as you have right now....I found any alternative ways on how to solve this but it doesn't work anymore..
Help please..

I tried your surgestion and there is nothing in the manage network to do with firewires let alone anything to disable. Its my understanding that the firewire is to do with carmeras rather than networks , thanks for repling anyway.
I still need help.

No theres nothing connected to the 2 firewire ports on the front or the back of the computer.

Disable the FIREWIRE in CMOS.
it is currently set for network boot from firewire.
