Adding Memory

I have three related questions.  Can you add DDR Ram memory to an existing SD Ram?  Is this something the average user can do by themselve?  Is $10.00 a good price for 256MB of Kingston DDR Ram?

Dimension 4300, P4 at 1.6 GHz.

128MB SDRAM at 133 MHz

16MB ATI Rage Ultra 4x AGP

40GB, ATA-100,7200 RPM Hard Drive

No, you cannot mix memory types. Installing memory modules is very easy to do, just use care.

See this:http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/dim4300/replace.htm#1101964
$10.00 is a very cheap price for 256mb DDR Ram (something fishy kinda cheap).

Hey Don, Beware of cheap priced RAM. Ram is easy to install, when following Dell Owner Manual guide lines. Never assume anything when upgrading a component.

Look at your Dell Owners Manual. Go to the Appendix page. Turn to specifications page. Look at Memory. This tells you everything you need to know about your Dell memory for the Dimension 4300.

You may consider a upgrade on your Graphics card also.

Not everyone can afford to upgrade, when they would like to. When I got my Dell, I just  made sure that the memory was very strong. DDR 1 Gig. I cut corners on Video card and went with 64MB DDR NVIDA.
