- the 9100 motherboard does not have pin-out or onboard IEEE 1394 if you want to have one you need to configure it with Audigy soundcard.....and you have 9100 why don't you checke it....peace man**********************************************

I have a 9100 with the Audigy 2 ZS card and there is a 1394 port on the front of my machine. It's right near the two USB ports. Hope this helps.- better call dell to check the front panel I/O for 1394....**********************************************

Liquid Cooled System - I just received a 9100 with the Audigy 2 ZS card. While there is a 1394 port on the back of the case, I expected that there would be one on the front next to the USB ports as is displayed in the sites pictures of the 9100.
Is it possible to get a 1394 port on the front of the case or is this misleading advertising? - Regarding the 1394 port on the front panel, I called DELL customer service. The representative I spoke to stated that after speaking to tech support, it was not possible to have a 1394 port on the front panel. Then I called support and was first told that it was not possible. After pressing the support person and after he checked with a higher level support person, I was told that I should contact customer care to have a new front panel shipped to me. Furthermore, I was told that the port is there behind the panel and all I have to do is take the 1394 cable from the rear of the box and and connect it to the front port. Does this sound right?

That is really strange. My computer is right next to me and there is a connection for a microphone and earphones. Right next to them on the right are 2 USB slots. Next to the USB slots is a slot marked 1394. I may not know what it is for, but I can see the port right in front of me on the panel. It is the last port on the right side of the front of the computer. Right above the port it says 1394. Wish I could send you a picture of it.Message Edited by robinhood42 on 08-17-2005 10:07 PM
