Driver Problems...Please help
Hi there,
I have installed windows 7 32bit on my dell optiplex gx280. For some reason my srceen is showing wide. Its stretched out from left to right and its
not square. The icons or any images are not displaying the way they are suppose to. Can you tell me what I need to do to correct this?
Thank you

You need the integrated graphics driver and set the resolution to the highest.

Go to support.dell.com > Drivers and Downloads > Put in your service tag > Go to the Video Section > Download the Intel driver...

You need to download the file R96000.EXE: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/optiplex-gx280?driverId=MJPWP&osCode=ww1&fileId=2731108122
You should install it in accordance to the instructions here. In the case of your installation, the folder should be C:Dell/Drivers/R96000. Once you have installed the driver and restarted you should be able to change your resolution, to what you used to get.
I have one of these in the office on Windows 7 unfortunately everytime I restart the computer the resolution reverts a little but I will play around with it more when I get time.

The resolution on mine changed when I restarted the computer however it did allow me to change.
Found a suggestion which said to use the driver here: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/search.aspx?q=intel%2082915g%2fgv%2f910gl
Again install via the device manager. I will test it out on the GX280 we have tomorrow.

Well I solved the issue on the one in the office already, I had forgot. The Video is still marked with an ! but I can change resolution and it doesn't revert after logging in.
I had downloaded a file called "Intel_915G_and GX280_855gm_vista_driver" and installed it via Device Manager. The log says the file is "Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)".
I forgot where I had found the file originally from but have uploaded it to SkyDrive. https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=568353F266EABD9C&id=568353F266EABD9C%2119172#cid=568353F266EABD9C&id=568353F266EABD9C%2119173
You need to download the file and extract it. Scan it with your antivirus (as my SkyDrive isn't an official source) just to be sure, Malwarebytes, Security Essentials and McAfee found nothing wrong with the file. Installation has to be via the device manager as described here select down to the "pci_ven_8086&dev_3582" subfolder.
The device should install, you will be prompted to restart. Once you log back in you should be able to change resolution. A check in the device manager will have the ! as mine does but at least it will give you basic functionality.

Hi Guys,
I have followed all the instructions and it is still not working. It says the software device is up to date. Maybe the pic of my device manager might help out.
Thanks

I have done that. After completed it dint tell me to restart but I did anyhow and nothing has changed. It doesnt give me the option to change the resolution. I have the yellow exclamation and I tried to update it with the same file as well as search for the file online and it said it was updated. What do I do now?

You have the same driver setup as my install did. I think you have a bigger monitor however mines is set as 1280×1024.
This driver is not designed for Windows 7 and thus doesn't work that great. You should consider installing a cheap graphics card.
What model of GX280 do you have, the SFF, the DT or the MT?

Also do you have an option to lower the resolution or you don't have any options to change it at all?
