First, disconnect all the peripherals from the system, except the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Place the Dell reinstallation CD in the drive, not the drivers and Utilities disc, start the system and when the Dell logo appears, press the key to load the Boot Menu.

If the menu does not appear, restart the system and tap several times at the Dell logo screen.

When the Boot Menu appears, highlight the CD/DVD drive (listed as "CDROM", "CD/DVD" or "CD/DVD/CD-RW") entry from the list and press .

 When you carry out a clean reinstall of XP, you can use the 'Delete Partitions' option and then recreate the partition, the deletes all data on the hard drive.

Also, I've found Darik's Boot and Nuke is very effective for erasing all the data from a hard drive, prior to reinstalling the operating system

Or maybe the kids did something to my settings in reboot!!!  I hope not.

When you carry out a clean reinstall of XP, all the drivers, applications and programs are automatically removed.

After XP has been reinstalled, you will need to reinstall all the drivers, from either the Dell Drivers and Utilities disc, or download them from Dell's download site, for installation.

So all I have to do is what you stated earlier? I tried that nothing happened. Do you think I need to reinstall something to read the disk?

Yes, looks like this may erase Windows XP, But what I need first is too erase all Dell drivers, then reinstall them with the disk I have. Can you Help with this?

Yes, I want to reinstall XP. I need to remove Dell Drivers, because my kids removed portions of the programs, so they are not working properly anymore. I have my disk that came with it to reload them from new at that time in October 2006.

Are you using a single [primary] SATA hard drive, or a RAID?

You could try entering the Dimension 9150/XPS400 system setup and make the CD/DVD drive you are using, the first Boot Device, in the Boot Sequence section, save and exit the setup, place the DVD in the drive and restart the system and see if this makes a difference.

If you are not using RAID, or do not have an internal floppy drive, enter the system setup, scroll down to drives, press Enter or + to expand the drive menu then down to "SATA Operation", press Enter.

Change the SATA operation mode to "RAID Autodetect/ATA" press ESC to save and exit the BIOS.

I have Dell XPS DXP051  Pentium (R) D CPU 2.80GHz   2.79GHz  1.00 GB of Ram Physical Address Extension  with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition  Version 2002 Service Pack 3
