Look up Direct Cable Connection in the Windows Help file. All the details are there. I've used DCC in the past, and it worked very well.

Yes, it does require a special cable....sometimes called a null-modem cable. I bought mine at Office Max. $12-15.

Don't know about the DOS question.

Wag is right about Direct Cable Connection directcc.exe, but many have experienced problems setting it up, and it helps if one has some knowledge of setting up networks. The cable that connects via the parallel ports is sometimes also referred to as LapLink cable.

Direct Cable Connection can only run under Windows. I have tried to see the other computer under DOS w/o success.

To do this in full DOS mode, I use the trusty old LapLink3 (LL3.exe). It uses the same type of cables, it's small, and it runs under DOS, but you will lose all the long file names for your files since it's an old DOS program.
