how do I do this again

I have forgotten how to get rid of the log on pass word box that pops up when I boot up, also how to get rid of that annoying little windows thing with the 4 little squares. If I'd been able to reach the kind & gentle people in this forum, Dell techs wonted have had me doing a reintallation of ME. & I wonted have to do all this tweaking again. Denny keep your site up untill I get there, Please. Thank you.

    there are a couple of ways to do this the eaisiest is to just hit enter when the box comes up and it should go away if you did not do that go to find and type *.pwl and delete the password files. reboot and just hit enter when the password windows comes up. this should keep the windows sign on box from comming up. if this does not work you can always install Tweak....

    Hope this Helps

    P.S. this is only my opinion and may not be the right one for you....

    bobbelnap;

    I wouldn't recommend installing any Tweak accessories for this sort of thing. They can cause a lot more problems than they fix, if you're not very used to working with them. This should take care of the logon password prompt.

    Good luck.

    thanks for the Microsoft link,the sign on box was just annoying, but that window thing gets in my road all the time I know it moves, but when I'm playing solitaire, it is always in the road. I thought I have heard in this forum, that TweakUI, is not to be used on ME? Oh well off to Denny,s site to unload all that start up stuff. Thanks guys.

    PS I just pooked around at the 4 squares thingee & found a drop down box with a check in the box that says for this "what ever its called box" to run at start up. so that fixes that thanks again

    Here's a easy way to do it without installing any additional programs. Follow this path:

    Start>Settings>Control Panel>Passwords>Change Windows Password

    Enter your current password and leave the new password boxes empty. Restart your system and the password box shouldn't appear anymore.

    As for the 4 little squares: If you play around enough you will find a "close" option. I can't get my 4 square thingy up on my desktop right now or I would be more specific.
