New graphics card for Dell Dimension E310?

Question

Hi,

I need a new graphics card for a Dimension E310 that I'm fixing up. I've looked on many websites and I just couldn't find the right part.

So here's what I'm trying to look for: A standard PCI graphics card... My computer doesn't have anything PCI-express on it, so please don't tell me that I need to buy a PCI express graphics card. I am not sure how specific I should be when describing it... I guess what I can say is that it should look like the other PCI cards that are already in the system... (I still don't know how to describe it.)

Again, the computer doesn't support PCI Express cards. I just want to know what the best video card is for that computer.

It is running Windows 8.1 and the only problem is with the graphics - they are very slow.

Your best bet today for PCI is to probably go with the HD 5450 HERE.  There are few choices for new PCI cards unless you want to shop ebay for a used one. This will be a good video card that will improve your graphics and the one I would choose for an older computer.

In fact, it does have a PCIe-x1 slot, and that's where you'll get the best results. HIS makes the 5450 and 6450 in x1, and it's also possible to use the Startech PCIe-x1-to-x16 adapter with a regular low profile 6450 card.

I tried the Startech adapter my E310, and it worked well, but I came across a super eBay deal on the HIS 6450 x1 and that's what's installed currently. (My E310 is also equipped with 4gb of G.SKILL PC6400 memory and an SSD.)

PCI cards suffer from lower bandwidth, and AMD/ATI products have DXVA disabled, so you can forget about hardware-assisted video. (And that includes the 5450 Kelbear pointed out.)

I have one of these machines with an HIS 6450 PCIe-x1 installed, so I can state this from personal experience.
