I recently purchased an XFX GeForce FX5700LE 128MB 8XAGP card.  I am planning to install it in the very near future.  It sounds like your current video card is of a similar vintage as mine.  I came to the conclusion that (almost) any card would result in an improvement in performace over the current state of affairs.  I would suggest that you peruse the video forum and get as much info and ideas that you can.  I got a good deal on the XFX card at 'tigerdirect.com'.

Just finished installing the new video card.  It was relatively uneventful as far as delving into computer software and hardware guts go.  Follow ALL of the great instructions and advice posted on the VIDEO FAQs article at the top of the forum page, kudos to Chris M. the DELL mod.  Print and review all of the instructions carefully before diving in.

Maybe I missed it in the instructions, but, after you completely uninstall and clean out the old graphics card drivers (per instructions), remove the old card in an appropriate manner.  Then restart your system and install the new drivers (per instructions).    

The difference in the display appearance is somewhat breathtaking.    I was able to go from analog to digital output, what a treat!
