Optiplex 755 Bios update failure

Hello,

I am having a Dell Optiplex 755 system, I am facing 3 serious problems in it..

1. My first problem is that my system automatically Starts up without pressing the Power ON button on my system, whenever i plug in my Power cable, it automatically switches ON & doesn't give out the Video-out display on my Monitor. The system is showing the LED indicator lights of 3 & 4 only and the system fan is also making some extra Noise and did not start up, then i have to hold the power ON button for some time, it helps in shutting down the system & then again I have to switch ON the system again. So it is fault in my system.

2. My Second problem was that, currently my system was running on BIOS version A12 and i want to update the latest BIOS version to A22, I have also downloaded the A22 file, but when I am running it in system Administrator mode It restarts the system to install the file, but I got an Error message that -

BIOS update failed! Could not find the firmware image in memory.

I keep downloading different-different versions like A19 version also, but i got the same error message. So please help me out from this trouble in a very step by step process, so please help me out.

3. My third problem was that, when i power ON the system, so a black screen was present onto the screen & a small cursor was blinking on the very top left corner of the screen. I have to wait for around 2-3 minutes, after it my system got started and then the windows logo comes up.

so please help me out from all of this problems as soon as possible. I am running on Windows 7 64-bit O.S.

Hi Deeprocks19,

Please refer to your user manual.

Diagnostic lights 3,4 indicate a RAM problem. The system turning on when you connect the power is a BIOS setting (power restore). You need to sort out the RAM problem first before tackling anything else.

The BIOS update I'm not sure about. If there is an option to run the update from a bootable flash drive, try that.

The third problem sound like a slow boot. It's impossible for us to diagnose this, so I would simply do a search for "slow startup Windows 7". You might also run the diagnostics on your hard drive to rule out a hardware problem.

Sir still I am facing the same problem for my Dell Optiplex 755 system, now I have also created a bootable flash drive for updating my BIOS version, but m stuck to the very same error :

BIOS update failed!

Could not find the firmware image in memory.

( please focus on this error message to get an optimum solution against my problem)

BIOS boots up from the flash drive, it says agree to flash version from A12 to A22 press any key then I pressed a key, then again it ask that agree to proceed then I pressed the "y" option for Yes. After pressing the system got restarted and again I got the very same error message

I keep downloading different version like A19 version also, but the error was again the same, now this trick also didn't worked. I hope I will get a best solution for Dell Support as soon as possible. I do want to update my BIOS version. God bless Dell

I am also having a Dell Optiplex 755 model, currently I am running on A12 Bios version & tried several times to upgrade to A22 version,but i got the very same error message:

BIOS update failed! Could not find the firmware image in memory.

I tried my doing directly on windows & also by using bootable flash drive, so please help me our from this trouble. I am also running on Windows 7 64-bit, but every time I failed to update my BIOS.

Sir I have tried BIOS version A21 also but now also I am getting the same result-

why this error message is coming all the time or please guide me a step by step process how to update my BIOS

Are you right clicking the file and selecting run as administrator? What security software do you have installed?

It appears you did not see my reply. Diagnostic lights 3,4 indicate a RAM problem. You need to test your RAM first to verify whether this is the case, using something like MEMTEST.

I would not waste time on a BIOS update until you figure out the hardware issues.

yes sir I am right clicking on the file & selecting it run as administrator. Then the new dialogue box appears that flashing the BIOS from A12 to A22, press the key to restart the system to update the BIOS, then the system got restarted and then on the very first screen i got the very same error -

Phoenix ROM BIOS version A1.10A12 like dis something & bottom side

failed to update!

BIOS update failed!

Could not find the firmware image in memory.

No security software was installed in my system, just the normal software i.e device drivers & application softwares only.. So please sir figure it out what to do next??

Yes I have seen your last reply, but it was my fault that I failed to mentioned that I have replaced my RAM, now there is no problem about the Diagnostic light 3 & 4, this issue was resolved.

I have installed new RAM in my system and also done a test by MEMTEST software and it got passed & gives Zero error.

But now I left with the BIOS update problem from my current version A12 to A21 or A22

BIOS update failed!

Could not find the firmware image in memory.

this was the error every time I am facing about it; waiting for your reply?

You cant Jump from 12 to 21 or 22.

There are pre requisites.Try starting with A19. If it needs earlier it will say so.

I haven't seen that error before. Do you have any security or encryption software which is interfering with the BIOS update.

If you have a spare hard drive, remove your current drive and replace it. Install Windows only on the new hard drive and then attempt the BIOS update.

sir I have done this step also, yes I am having a spare hard drive , installed windows in it den also try the same process. But the error was same, please help me figure out the problem.. or u can consult it with any of your team mates or friends. I am in a great trouble and in a seek of help from your side.
