Have a D/top Studio XPS 435MT with 4 gig RAM I want to add another 4 gig from Dell store but cannot make sense of which ddr modules to order. Should be easy I know but the support web site isn't.
First, how many of the six slots in your XPS 435MT are currently populated and what type of memory is currently installed? I would recommend that you use the same type of memory to expand the system to 8Gb.
The types of memory that the XPS 435MT can use are DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, or DDR3 PC3-8500 non-ECC RAM. You can have a maximum of 12Gb (4Gb x 3) memory per slot but the maximum system memory is 24Gb.
If your system has two 2GB memory sticks, then I would add two more 2Gb memory sticks of the same type to increase total memory to 8Gb.
