RDRAM PC700 VS PC800

i dont know about p.c. 700 , but i recently up graded to 256mb pc 800, from 128m.b p.c.600, and i got a nice boost either from the extra 128mb's or the faster p.c.800... but i would think that the p.c.800 is the way to go.

The only difference is an added 100mhz difference. What is installed in your system ? if you have 700 I believe even if you get 800 your ram will run at 700Mhz.
But if you don't go for the 800 is is the fastest out for it and I don't think there is a much difference in price.

I believe that it works in pairs, If you add pc800 in pairs, the pc800 pair will operate at the faster speed and your original pc700 will operate at its expected speed

With RDRAM, you must add it in pairs, regardless.

I believe all the memory will run at the speed of the slowest.

This is not always true. With the 8100 and 8200, both P4 machines, RDRAM has to be added in matched pairs. With the older PIII machines that use RDRAM, like the Dimension XPS-B series, RDRM does not need to be added in matched pairs. Since the original poster has PC700 RDRAM, I suspect that he/she has a XPS-B series computer, since I know of no case where Dell shipped PC700 with 8100s or 8200s.
