You didn't mention what solution you are talking about, however with a computer this old your better off just going with windows 7.  

Then the problem is not the OS. If you have a hdmi Out port, try a diff monitor. If you can't do that, replace the computer. The all in one is more like a laptop with no replaceable parts. It is not worth fixing a 9 year old laptop/desktop even if it were possible..
