shutdown problem

my computer automatically shuts down.  The error message I get states "previous shutdown due to thermal event"  I can press F1 to continue or F2 for setup.  How do I fix this?

    Which model computer do you have?  Have you ever opened the case and used a can of compressed air to blow out the dust bunnies?

    I have a Dimension 4600
    I have not tried the can of air - but will definitely try that.  Thank you so much!!!

    Wanted to let you know that getting the "dust bunnies" out of the CPU worked!  My computer has been on since!
