I have a Dell 4300 Dimension that a friend have me and it was dad due to a power surge. When I got it, there was no activity at all, and no diagnostic lights were lit up. The only lights wre a yellow and green flea light flickering on the mobo. Here is what I have done, to no avail!!
1.) I started by replacing the power supply. This did not change anything.

2.) I took the hard drive out and tested in another machine. Works fine.

3.) I tested memory and video card in another machine, both work fine.

4.) I bought a different MOBO with processor. Installed and now the fans will power up, the flea light is a solid yellow, no green flea light. The hard drive and CDROM also show activity on startup, but then stop. The power button is a solid yellow, and there are no diagnostic lights or beeps.

5.) I tried reseating all cables, and the processor, to no avail. I also removed all cards and the memory from the MOBO and powered up. No beeps or diagnostic lights.

6.) I bought a different MOBO processor that was bench tested fine. Put that one in and the same result. Flea light solid yellow, fans running, disc and HD cycle, but the power light is a solid yellow again!!!

7.) I start to tink that maybe the board behind the powr btton is bad. SO I tear apart the plastic bezel and the power button board hoping to find a burnt board. Everything looks fine!!

I am at my wits end on this machine. New power supply, bench tested CPU and MOBO, hard drive is fine, all cable ends look fine with no signs of charring. What is left to diagnose?? Isn't it odd that there is power to the fans and MOBO? Leads me to believe the switch is fine. Tried the old power supply and it turns out that is fine. Does anybody have any ideas? The only boards I have left are the one for the front USB and the power button. Everything else is new and in working order..
Please help me!!!!
