- Hi Rudy,
I guess I am still wondering why you would want to go to an OS that is almost 4 years old? Ok, you say that Win ME is giving you problems fine but did you ever consider Win2000 or Win XP? I have Win XP and I can't tell you how much better it is than Win98. It won't be long and Win98 will be history like Win95 and Win 3.1 I have had NO problems with XP. And you can not expect Dell to give you an OS that is 4 years old. Get Win2000 or XP. Cody19
- Get XP upgrade for $99...best money you will spend!
My wife who knows onlya little about PC's says (about her new 4300 1.5ghz machine) ME stinks! I want 98 back!
We are awaiting the XP upgrade and then she will be happy!
I bought my own upgrade and did not have any problems at all!!! I love XP!

If you continue to pester Dell they may send you a refurbished 8100. Of course the next guy will get your refurbished 8100 so you might want to think about what you would be receiving…
Yes ME does have some problems, as did 98, 95, 3.0, NT, 2000 and XP. Yet most of us non-experts manage to get them working.
I see you have only made 3 posts in the 5 months you have been using the forum.
This is not an easy thing to diagnosis/fix via the forum. Would one of the experts you know be willing to take your PC for a week and see if they can get it running?
Would you be willing to buy your own copy of Win98, reformat and install it?
Would you be willing to reformat and set it up with the absolute minimum of the OS engaged?
