XPS 730 ERROR MESSAGE PLEASE HELP

Hi guys i only recieved my xps 730 an hour ago i set it all up and it was fine, i phoned dell customer service coz it looked like i only had 2gb not 4gb. The guy on the phone took me into the Bios showed me it was 4gb then told me to press F10 and exit so i did and now i got a message coming up saying...

WARNING: Have option ROM cannot be invoked.

The guy on the phone restored it to factory settings and flood (cant remeber what he said) the bios.(went online and reinstalled then or something). And i still get the message.

He said he has to speak to his supervisor coz he doesnt know whats going on and he will call me back

I wanted to see if anyone here knew coz this is so silly it worked before he went into the bios now it says that over and over again.

ahh i wondered what that warning message was, you must be a fast reader, i have the same error on my 730hc. I dont know what to tell you on that as I am having serious problems with the mobo, getting the 3rd mobo put in today.

But, in order to get vista sp1 update you will need to install the realtek driver update. you can find that by launching the dell connection software or whatever it is then go to drivers, audio. Once you update that driver windows update will allow you to install the sp1 patch. If you dont update that driver sp1 wont show up.

good luck

you need the motherboard replace as well? lol, this is bad i have had the system 2 days and now it will have its 3rd mother board placed into it. Oringinal they claim was defective as well as the one they replaced it with leaving me with hoping the 3rd one will actually work. I think its really just they have no idea how to support the 730's and guess to replace the mobo.

running 32bit

If i was do to this over I would wait a month for them to figure out the issues. Apparently they dropped the ball on this and support does not have any or enough information to support it.

did you give the guy the led codes off the mobo? you can see it through the side of the case. They werent sure if my issues was gfx cards or mobo. but then they had me remove the 2 gfx cards and the new led code "26" iirc indicated a mobo problem. they replaced the mobo which corrected the no video problem i had but then i had no sound..... make sure you guy doing your mobo has the proper information I think mine wasnt done right and thats the reason i have no sound. probably didnt disable the on board sound 1st. But i am at work so cant verify. also if its overclocked system good luck, dell doesnt know the correct bios settings for the overclocking overvoltage. I got mine to what appears to be correct and waiting for dell to call me back to verify.

Just to put this in perspective, the 730 ships with a new mobo configuration. Sadly, with all things new and IT there can be weird issues (1330 mobos screamed, 700 boards had massive issues with Quad cores, et cetera). Guess it's the price for being cutting edge >.<

All,

If you have the XPS 730 with dual Ati video cards, go into the bios and disable the the Jmicron Esata controller. That is what is causing the "WARNING: Have option ROM cannot be invoked" error. We will issue a bios update to correct this. Once released, you may turn it back on.

I cant seem to find it either, so does this mean wont dont need to chnage our motherboards now we can cancel the techinicains?

Also one other quick question do we have to share the Ram with the video cards, i got 4gb ram and 700mb is going on each card and 2 gb is only for system use.

Im doing animation in Maya so i need the ful potential i can get for rendering my animations and if the 2gb only applies for system use it wont render quiclky?

Apologies, it is listed as eSATA Controller.

Cancel any motherboard exchanges.

The ram is not shared with the cards themselves. The ram is given over to the PCI Express x16 slots. You cannot adjust this.
