Hoping someone here knows what to do about this issue. 

For the past year or so, I've been having intermittent, major issues with my wireless adapter on my XPS 8500. What happens is the adapter will, for some unknown reason, lose connectivity to one of my wireless networks. This normally would not be a big issue, and I'd just connect to another one. But, quite often the disconnect/reconnect process (accessed via the system tray icon) will hang in an unconnected state. Sometimes, I can resolve the issue by disabling the wireless network adapter through "Network Connections" in Control Panel, then re-enable it after a minute or so and things work smoothly again for a while. But, about 50% of the time, the whole thing just completely hangs, and I get stuck in a limbo - no connectivity, no ability to enable or disable the wireless connection or to connect to anything. A restart of the system fixes the issue...but a normal restart doesn't work, as the system hangs trying to shut down and I have to hold the power button to force a shut down. 

Obviously, this is a big issue, and not something I want to deal with much longer. I know it is not a function of my router or range extender, as my other devices work just fine and are sitting right next to me. This is an issue with the Dell wireless card drivers or something connected to them within the system. 

Anyone out there experienced this before? FWIW, I did a full wipe of the system and complete reinstall of Windows 7 two weeks ago, updated all drivers from Dell (which is another story unto itself), and that seemed to fix the issue until the last couple days when it started up again. 

The only thing I can think of that might be causing some issue is I have a Synology Diskstation NAS mapped to "Z:/" on my Dell 8500; don't see how or why that would cause an issue, but maybe it is.
