9100 Inspiron BIG Boot Problem

I have a Dell 9100, about 18 months old. I put it in hibernation mode last night, and this morning I cannot get it to start at all.

Lights: When I turn on the power the left light on the keyboard lights up green (the one that says "9" on it). And on the vertical face of the monitor the power light is on (circle with a small line at 0 degrees). I hear some noise coming from the computer, but the monitor is completely black. And after a short while (less than a minute), the power light also turns off. I cannot even find a reset button on the computer, but not sure that would help anyway. The monitor as I said is completely dark.

I of course am desperate. The computer has worked well for the past 18 months, but this seems like a big problem. Any guidance would be VERY appreciated right now.

If it's in warranty call Dell.

If it's out of warranty, reseat the RAM, drives, battery and any cards in the system. Check the adapter to make sure the LED is on. Remove the battery and try powering up.

If it won't power up, you're likely in for a replacement mainboard (figure on a $500 repair bill for that).
