Auto on from shutdown... Black screen... ***??
Hey there,
My inspiron 15z keeps coming on in the middle of the night even after I've shut it down properly. When I open it, there's just black screen and I can't get it to do anything, so I have to turn it off with the power key. It was running Win 8.1, now 10. This has been happening for a couple of years, and since it's not under warranty, Dell won't really help. Maybe someone here can? TIA!

BIOS couldn't flash to same version, and video drivers wouldn't update either.
Power options for plugin mode were already off.
This is the second of this model I have had. I returned the first (for a different reason than this), and still had the same issue with this one, but was convinced by tech that the fault lie with someone else.
I really wish I had got a different model or brand. I have never really liked this laptop

Have you tired a windows installation for this issue??
Post shuttin down the system, disconnect the charger and observe.
Then try to leave the machine only on adapter (remove battery) and observe again.

Have you tried the remaining steps yet??
It hasn't happened again yet. I will try them when it does and get back to you.
I don't know how long it will take. It's intermittent.

Please ignore that question :). As i see you have upgraded to win 10, that my question doesnt matter in this situation :)

Please Update the BIOS and video drivers and disable power options if any.
