Card reader problem with 6400

Hi !
I have Inspiron 6400 which comes with 5in1 card reader. I tried to insert MMC card of my Nokia mobile in the slot. I was able to insert, but the system was not able to detect the card.
I was concerned if it could cause any harm to my memory card. But it was working fine after I fitted it back to my mobile.
Isn't it possible to read the card without external card reader?
Has anybody successfully accessed MMC card with the built-in card reader of inspiron?

    Hi My friend .
    I have Sony Ericsson K750i. I have also same MMC card. But I guess u know that , this MMC card slot needs to a converter. When I bouht this phone , they give me the converter in the phone box and I can read this card in my inpiron 6400. Hopefully this is helpful 4 u.
