D630 No Device Detected

After many excellant years of service with a C510 i have bought a new D630 so that instead of using an unlocked Vodafone PCMCIA Data card , i could use a cellular SIM inserted internally into the slot next to the battery of my D630 , but when starting the Dell Mobile Broadband Card Utility i get the error message No Device Detected , the SIM is not seen within (Hardware/Modems i have tried reinstalling software etc but no joy , the SIM will work if i revert to using the Vodafone card , thanks for any help , Geoff .

have a look in bios to see if your hardware is actually installed.

The SIM card alone won't do mobile broadband - did you order the system with the internal WWAN card?

Geoff, The WLAN card you mentioned (0PC193) is not the WWAN card ejn63 was talking about. In order to use the SIM card on your D630, you must have installed a WWAN dpn MN624 or 0MN624. This card looks about the same than the WLAN card you have.

This document explains where each card is locate so that you can tell if you need to order a WWAN card.
