DELL Bluetooth 355 Module Problem

Hi, I have an Inspiron 6400 with the 355 bluetooth module. I have installed the latest dell drivers for windows xp when I first got the laptop (they are still the latest drivers) and have had no issue with bluetooth. Lately however, and more and more frequently, when using my bluetooth mouse (logitech v270), it drops the connection (and the laptop must be restarted). At first I thought it may be the mouse, but no bt device can detect the laptop. I then decided to look at the widcomm diagnostic page, and the hardware (MAC) address of the bt module is set to 00:00:00:00:00:00!

Going into the device manager and disabling the bt module, then re-enabling it moments later fixes the problem until it reoccurs.

Any ideas guys???

I have the same problem with my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse (the one that comes with the bluetooth mouse/keyboard set).

I don't have to reboot to fix it, just go into the control panel and look at the bluetooth dialog. The mouse come back alive in 2-3 seconds after that.

My wife has a Kingston mouse for her E1705 with the 355 BT module and she's never had it disconnect.

I have the same problem. It used to be that simply turning the Bluetooth radio off and back on would fix the problem, but now it doesn't always work. I also get the same screen in the Bluetooth Configuration/Diagnostics page, where the device address is all zeros. Any word on a fix?

I have the E1505 and have the same problem with Dell's bt mouse.  What is the fix for this nagging problem?  I'm ready to yank bt and ask for my money back!

There is a driver update that Broadcom posted on their site. But we can't use it cause Dell needs to build their own drive based off it. Why that hasn't happened yet... idk. But Dell needs to get their act together.

    Hello,

I have the same problem with an Inspiron e1705 and BT355.
The BT module works fine for some time after startup, and then it could not find any device. Device address becomes 00:00:00:00:00:00... Shutdown and reboot is then needed.

I tried other drivers, such as widcomm 5.1.0.1100. Driver works fine, but does not fix the problem...

did any one find a solution ?

    Hello,

I am aslo having the same problem with my Inspiron e1405.  The v270 mouse worked when I first installed it and know it donst work at all.  When you connect it shows up but will not connect.

I have called Dell and Logitech with no answers.  They sent a new mouse and had the same problem.

Anyone heard of an answer for this problem?

Same problem on an e1405 with BT 355 and iogear BT Mini mouse. Restarting is the only recourse. I have seen reports of the same problem in other forums under Dimension going back to July.

If it's a matter of waiting for Dell, I am going to look for my USB Mouse.

Same problem on E1705. After using the Bluetooth [MS] mouse for some period of time I get a down beep like device disconnecting followed by an up beep like device connecting. Mouse goes dead for several seconds during this process, very annoying. Any solutions? This seems to be a wide spread problem with Dell BT judging by the number of complaints I've seen.
