So for the D830 max sizes listed for the flash cache memory is 512mb and one gyg cards. Theoretically, just as long as the card fit in the socket up to 4 gygs it should work. Vista is the only officially OS supported with the D830. I haven't tried it myself but Win 7 may work fine with the system.
The FCM on the M6500 is equivalent to SSD/HDD functionality. So yeah 4 gygs should be fine. The mobile workstation has full support for Windows 7.
