Dell Touchpad control panel is missing - e6400
I had to re-install windows 7 due to some corruption on the OS. After installing and using the driver disks that came with the machine, I have no touchpad control panel. I have no way to control the touchpad which is now driving me insane when I'm typing and it causes the cursor to jump all over the place. I've done numerous searches but can't find the software anywhere. Would you please tell me where I can get that software? THANKS!

Hi,
Welcome to the Community. If you have just re-installed windows then its important for you to install the drivers in the correct order, or some devices may not work properly. Use the below link for help.

I think you missed out on the Touchpad drivers, use the below link to download and install it.

BTW... I have the touchpad drivers, just not the software that allows me to control the touchpad...like the ability to turn it off so that if my hand or thumb accidentally touch it, my cursor doesn't jump all over the place.
Also.. my machine is still under warranty. Can I get someone at Dell to remotely jump on my machine and get everything working properly?

Thanks. But drivers are already installed. Is there a fix to getting things to work properly? I've already re-installed all teh software and files, so not looking to have to re-install...

thanks. The problem still remains that i don't have the tab that says Dell Touchpad when I go to mouse settings. How do I get that back?

Hi,
Once you click on control panel, mouse, you will not see a touchpad image, clicking on the touchpad image will bring up the touchpad settings. If you still do not get it, then Uninstall the touchpad driver, by clicking on start, right click on computer, click on properties click on device manager, click on the symbol next to pointing devices, right click on the touchpad driver and then click on uninstall, click ok to confirm, once removed restart your computer, and install the driver using the link I gave in my previous post.
Thank you.

OK.. .I tried that and still doesn't work. Here's what I have in the Device Manager under Mice and pointing devices:
HID-compliant mouse
Logitech HID compliant Cordless mouse
PS/2 Compatible mouse
Even after installing the touchpad I don't see it under the device manager... strange. ideas?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in response, I was on vacation. The only option is to reinstall windows again, and follow the link given in my post above to install drivers in the correct order. This will probably fix this issue.
Thank you.

I solved that issue by installing the notepad driver form dell (it did probably unistall the previous one, it now appear in the mouse setting, and I can even disable it using F3). don't know yet if it solved the jumping issue.
