downloading the fan cooling program

i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not downloading that fan program for dell computers to cool your system down is legal.  what i mean is, if i download and install it, is it going to void my 1 year warranty?  i have a inspirion 5150, and since i use it as a desktop replacement  i play video games on it--when i play i usually play in bed, so the fan isnt exposed as well as it should be--and this system gets ridiculously hot, so hot that i cant even touch it.  so i want something that will cool it down, and other threads say to use this fan program.  but i dont want to void my warranty until it expires in february.  unfortunately i just had to have my motherboard replaced, perhaps (although i know nothing about hardware) due to the overheating of the system, and i would like to avoid this problem in the future.  if someone replies to this message and needs to see my system specs could you please tell me how to do it?   i can analyze the bejeezus out of a poem but am technically deficient when it comes to tech support on a computer.

This is it's disclamer:

Disclaimer:
By using this software you are changing the thermal management of your DELL notebook. This program is not supported by DELL, so any damage caused by this program is not covered by the warranty. YOU'RE USING THIS PROGRAM AT YOUR OWN RISK !

And I believe it is only for the 8x00 series? But there are this things called "Artic Cooling Pads" that you connect to the USB port and has 2 big silent fans that will keep the notebook cool. (It's called a notebook now, because it's too hot to put in the lap.) :smileymad:

I bought my daughters here at Best Buy Goes by different name, but well worth it if you are going to put it on your lap.

If you value your notebook you'll run I8kfangui.  Since you report it is too hot to touch, it is probably filled with lint and dust from your bed and needs blowing out.  The nuse fangui to keep the cpu in the 30s Centigrade.  It won't void your warranty - Dell moderators say Dell does not endorse it then post a link to it.
