If the issue persists, kindly send me the device ID so that I can find the correct drivers.

• From the Start screen, swipe up and tap the All apps icon.
• If you have a mouse, right-click on the Start screen and then click All apps.
• Once on the Apps screen, scroll or swipe to the right until you see the Windows System heading.
• Tap or click on Control Panel, located under Windows System.
• Windows 8 will bring up the Desktop and automatically open the Control Panel.
• Tap or click on the Hardware and Sound link.

Note: You won't see Hardware and Sound if your Control Panel view is set to Large icons or Small icons.

• In the Hardware and Sound window, click or tap Device Manager, located under the Devices and Printers heading.

Select the unknown device and right click to access Properties

In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id from the drop down.

actually my laptop model No is XPS L401x but on the above link you have give the Vostro 1550 driver.

The link works for me and the system model under Compatibility shows XPS L401x.

Hi Darraheliz,

Check if the cursor jumps in safe mode with networking. Restart the computer and tap F8 on Dell logo and select safe mode with networking.

Uninstall and reinstall touchpad drivers:

Follow below steps to Uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

1. Click “Start”, type “Device Manager” and press enter.
2. In the “Device Manager” window, open the "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" selection.
3. Under “"Mice and Other Pointing Devices", right click the Synaptic touchpad, and click “Uninstall”.
4. Check the box “Delete driver software for this device”, click ok and follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Restart the computer.
