Error Code 5300:0119 | Video Memory Failed
Hi Dell - my wife's laptop (Inspiron 9400) screen died recently. After playing with it the screen (kinda) came partially alive, and I was able to get into the diagnostics tool.
It showed multiple errors on Video Memory, error code 5300:0119.
I am assuming it requires at new video card.
Can you let me know
a) if this is correct and
b) where I can get it from, and how much? (Canada)
Many thanks

Yes, the video card has failed. I wouldn't bother buying another nVidia card - they're all a few years old now and whatever you buy will simply fail again in a few days, weeks or months - and come with only a 90-day warranty.
The ATI X1400 card for these models is reliable and costs less than the nVidia options - figure on $200-250US for one. You can find them from parts-people.com, impactcomptuers.com, or other Dell parts resellers.

you might try baking it if your out of warranty as a last resort and at your own risk
