I will use my notebook untill I'm done with it or I get tired and then I'll Shutdown or Hibernate. I f I have to go somewhere and I have to leave something important running, I'll just close the lid of it. It is set to do nothing when the lid is closed. Hope that helps.

Leaving your computer on all the time causes unecessary wear and tear and possible heat damage.
