How to limit shared memory

Hello, A few days ago i replaced the genuine ram of my Dell Inspiron 1501, 1Gb to 2 Gb. It works very well, but now the grafic chip takes 800 Mb from the available storage. I think, this is too much, is it possible to limit the access ? thx for any help

If you're running Vista, this behavior is completely normal - Vista uses video RAM much more extensively than XP does.

According to Vista and most newer OS's, RAM is now viewed as cache.  To a computer empty cache is useless cache.  Although it shows that your available RAM is low, this does not mean that the system is using all of that memory.  This is a new feature to boost response times and increase performance.  Do not be afraid, because if you open a file or program that is not cached, Vista will knock out something else and make room for the operation.

The shared graphics RAM is only potential, that is, if the video card needs some of system RAM to supplement on-board graphics RAM, that much could be made available. In most situations, none is used. Only some video memory hog games will use system RAM to store program info for faster access.
