Inspiron 1501 will not boot up - error code 0F00:065D

Hi
My Inspiron 1501 will no longer boot up - loads up the Windows XP welcome page then switches to blank screen with just a curser arrow. I have run Dell diagnostics disc and get above error code along with message - IDE device failed. The self test failed the read portion of the test.
 
Does anyone know how to rectify problem - laptop was purchased November 2006 - will it need to be returned to Dell?

No, but call Dell with the error and they will ship you a replacement for your failed drive. You will need the XP CD, so if you do not have it, ask for one when you call for the warranty replacement. You can also request a pre-imaged drive.
