laptop is a M60, Dell. When connecting to any docking station, windows XP does not see dvd-rom drive. device manager reports secondary ide channel irq conflict with com1 modem. however, manually assigning irq's does not resolve problem.

when removing laptop from docking station, no irq conflicts.
