Keyboard and mouse stop functioning
I am using a Dell Latitude C-600 laptop and Windows XP Pro. The computer uses a Belkin mini mouse model # F8E841. At various times, the mouse cursor seems to migrate to the corner and just quiver or become unresponsive. During these times, the computer basically becomes unresponsive and keyboard fails to respond.
sometimes a reboot or just time allows for the computer to recover. I have scanned with Norton and Ad-aware and have all the various windows updates. Anybody want to take a shot at a solution?

dyake,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Ideas on troubleshooting your touchpad can be found in this knowledge base article.
You should also look at these steps:

One more idea, often third-party mouse drivers can cause performance issues with the system's touchpad. If you are using an external mouse and it requires additional drivers, I would suspect that these drivers are likely conflicting with those for the touch-pad. You should remove the drivers for both pointing devices and then reinstall those for the mouse that you wish to use.

I want to thank you for providing your input. As it turns out, the suggestion was right on target. The onboard mouse/pad the Dell Laptop came with was disabled in bios. The drivers were upgraded for the Belkin mouse. No more fighting between the Belkin and native onboard mouse pad.
And the computer has operated without any cursor or keyboard freeze ups since. Thank you very much.
I feel like it is important to provide feedback when an effort is made at a solution. Otherwise, a problem solver has no way of knowing whether or not their solution was effective.
