Hello,

when starting the laptop, WIN does not boot-up

when i ran the diagnostics (F12/diagnostics), the screen is black and the PC "plays a tune" and than beeps 1-4-6 code (short beebs). I cant find this code anywhere. Do you know what does it mean?

Thanks :-)

I also like to suggest you listen to the beep codes again and then click on the link below. Hopefully it will be a help to you.

I'd suggest you click on link below and stroll down to Diagnostic (LED Error Codes). Hopefully it will help you troubleshoot the system.

" when i ran the diagnostics (F12/diagnostics)"

You get any error code ? You are able to use the F2 key to get into the BIOS?

1 beep = bad mainboard

4 beeps = memory error

6 beeps = bad video chip

Put together it means:  replace the mainboard.

Will try a new HDD and see :-)

Good troubleshooting. I did suspect a failing hard drive. I'm looking forward to your next update. Thanks.

In the end, I tried to take out the HDD and ran the full diagnostics again, this time the diagnostics showed the screen did not find any errors. Than tried to put the HDD into another DELL laptop and the diagnostics gave me the same beep-signal, this time with a notice that there was something wrong with the memory. So I guessed it could be just about the HDD.

Will try a new HDD and see :-)

Thanks for your help
