Orange Blinking Battery LED Problem
I have a 5 month old Inspiron 6400.
After the battery has been discharged completely the battery LED (Light) on the computer started blinking orange. I left it charging during the night and it charged to 100%. The orange battery indicator is still blinking!
Battery looks good and healthy. The indicator on the battery shows all LEDs turned on.
Any idea why the battery LED on the computer still blinks orange? Can I turn it off somehow? Is there battery calibration tool for Inspiron 6400 that can help?

Please remove the battery from the system, and leave it out of the system for at least one hour. An amber blinking battery light on the system means that the battery is too hot.
Please check the charge directly on the battery, using the button and lights on the back of the battery.
If the lights on the battery come on amber, or blink in any pattern, please contact Dell.

Thanks for your posts!
Yes, my battery is KD476 type as well.
I have tried things that Dell-Rollie suggested but the blinking orange light is still there. Also, called Dell's customer support and they don't know what it can be.
My problem is that I moved to Europe and warranty is valid in Canada only so I have to send the battery back to Canada and ask Dell to send a new one to the my friends address there...
Who knows how long it will take.
Wildmugato, what is the procedure for requesting the battery replacement from Dell? How much time do they need to send the new battery back to you?

Just complain that you tryed everything they asked and nothing is working and you beleive 100%; its the battery and insist!!!!!! On getting a new one..
The 1st dude fr: India I talked to(Outsource jobs they have) said it was normal for it to blink orange like that..Yea, if your battery is bad and its time to replace it..Another words its a light to say "go get another batterey fool!" and pay $80.00...Anyway I talked to a 2nd person and they were clueless..I waited a day or two later and called again..The 3rd guy helped me out and said that I tryed all there hoops and jumps and nothing worked..
So were sending you a new one...Yea!!!! Those people are not PC repair workers like at a Best BUY or any other PC repair place..They have to go by a check list of do's and dont's and dont have the tech skills to fix a lunch box! Thats what happens when a Commpany outsourses to another country there TECH support? Lunch box fixers!
Good luck and be pateint with them..They are doing there job (using the checklist system to fix your PC) and trying to help you out the best way possibile....
"thanks,my freind"

Hi did anyone ever resolve the orange blinking LED issue? I have a Inspirion 1300 for a couple years. When the light began blinking I purchased a replacement battery; however, when I leave it plugged into AC and the battery gets fully charged it starts blinking orange again. I have been unplugging the AC and running battery until it discharges and I have to recharge and start the cycle all over again. I would really like to know that my laptop isn't going to catch on fire from a faulty battery. I also ran the diagnositic test via F12 in startup...every thing checked out fine. No error reports.

When the battery icon on the Aspire One is orange and blinking, it indicates that the battery is completely discharged. Plug in the AC adapter to charge the battery and to continue working with the system. If the battery is not charging with the AC Adapter, then perform a static discharge of your main board.
