password bypass

i have a laptop that i want to give as a gift that i've rarely used so i forgot my password is there any way i can bypass and creat a new one?  os is windowsxp professional  thanks

    Are you trying to bypass the windows password or the BIOS/boot-up password? If you're trying to do the Windows password, there's a 99% chance you'll have to reinstall XP - recovering lost passwords is nearly impossible with the newer security/encryption used in XP.

    I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO REPLY TO MY PROBLEM.
    I HAD TO REINSTALL XP PRO AGAIN SOMETIMES THE SIMPLEST THINGS ARE
